First Lego League (FLL) is an organization for kids ages 10 to 15, with 3 to 9 kids on each team. Each year there is a new theme. This year’s theme is Nature’s Fury. Along with the theme comes the challenge. The challenge tells about natural events and the disasters they cause. The FLL teams are asked to choose one of these disasters and develop a new, innovative solution to their chosen disaster. This is the Project part of FLL. There are 3 parts to FLL, the Project, the Robot game, and the Core Values. The Robot game is where teams build a playing field with Lego bricks. On the field are missions which the teams program their Lego Mindstorms robots to complete. The missions are always related to the theme. The Core Values relates to good sportsmanship. Finally, at the end of the season the teams go to competitions where they compete against other teams to continue to the next competition. To learn more, visit www.firstlegoleague.com
