Trash Trek

This year our project is about crayons. Did you know that crayons take about 100 years to break down in a landfill? Crayola alone makes 3 BILLION crayons a year, about 12 million per day! We have contacted some organizations who collect and donate used crayons to hospitals or schools that don’t have the money to buy crayons. Our new idea building on their work is melting the crayons into our innovative design which is a five pointed star mold with each point a different color. We use a paper separator we created to keep the crayons separate while we fill the mold, then we remove it for the melting process.
